CalDigit TS5

A $400 dock that makes its premium case the old-fashioned way: more usable I/O, laptop-class power delivery and fewer compromises at a serious desk.

CalDigit TS5 Thunderbolt 5 dock

The TS5 is a 15-port Thunderbolt 5 dock with four Thunderbolt 5 connections, five USB ports, 2.5GbE and up to 140W host charging. It is intended for the desk where one cable needs to connect displays, storage, networking, peripherals and power without becoming the bottleneck.

What does a $400 dock buy?

Headroom. A cheaper dock can solve basic display and USB needs; the TS5 buys more high-bandwidth ports, stronger power delivery and fewer reasons to replace the dock as the rest of the workstation grows.

Benchmark. For users who actually need Thunderbolt 5, multiple high-speed peripherals and 140W laptop charging, the premium is attached to capability. For ordinary desks, it is unnecessary.

The catch

Compatibility depends on the host computer, and some display/network features require Thunderbolt or USB4 support. Buying future-proof I/O you never use is still waste.
