Claude Max
The version of Claude for people who have stopped treating an AI assistant as an occasional utility and started treating it as part of the working day.

Why it matters
The useful comparison is with labor and interrupted concentration, not merely another monthly software plan. A heavy user may recover the difference through fewer resets and longer uninterrupted sessions; a light user receives the same interface with expensive unused headroom. That makes Max an operational tier for known demand, not a status version of Claude.
The evidence sheet
Paying for continuity
The expensive tier matters when interruptions, throttling and context switching cost more than the subscription. For code, writing and long analytical sessions, continuity itself is a feature.
Best when Claude is already work
Max is difficult to justify prospectively. It becomes easy to justify once you are routinely hitting the ceiling of Pro.
The catch
The 5× and 20× labels are usage tiers, not a promise of better answers. If you rarely hit Pro limits, this is mostly unused capacity.
