CW&T Tripod Light
A brushed-steel socket, switch and 12.5 feet of cord that gives a standard camera tripod an entirely new job.

Why it matters
The idea is strongest because it respects an existing standard rather than inventing another proprietary system. Camera tripods are adjustable, repairable and widely available; the lamp adds a new use without making those qualities disappear. It is a small example of design creating value through compatibility, although the exposed-cord aesthetic will feel intentional only in the right room.
The evidence sheet
Almost nothing added
The appeal is subtraction. CW&T does not redesign a lamp stand; it notices that millions of excellent adjustable stands already exist and adds only the missing electrical parts.
The elegance of the idea
Cheap by Row & Ledger standards, but exactly the kind of design we want more of: obvious only after someone has made it.
The catch
You need a tripod and a bulb, and the exposed cord-and-hardware look is deliberately workshop-like rather than polished.
