NITECORE MT1A Pro
A small flashlight with a useful fallback: an AA battery can keep it working. It cannot deliver the rechargeable cell's headline output.

The interesting feature is the second way to power it. Charge the supplied battery for ordinary use; an AA offers another route when charging is inconvenient. That is a practical reason to carry a dedicated light, provided you understand what changes when the battery does.
Two batteries, different ceilings
The manufacturer manual separates those output tables. Its maximum runtime of ten hours belongs to the rechargeable cell's 50-lumen low setting. It does not mean ten hours at 800 lumens. NITECORE also says temperature regulation adjusts output to conditions; treat the headline maximum as a maximum, not a sustained-output guarantee.
The USB-C port is on the supplied NL1411R battery. Remove the cell to charge it. The light also remembers its previous brightness setting, so switching it on does not always start at low.
Buy the power choice, not the biggest number
A pocket light makes sense when you want illumination without tying up your phone. Here, the purchase adds a removable rechargeable cell and an AA fallback in one small object. If your current light already covers that routine, the maximum-lumen figure alone is a weak reason to replace it.
Decide how you will actually replenish power. Someone who wants to plug a cable straight into a flashlight may prefer a model with charging on its body. Someone who needs both hands free should compare a headlamp. Those are different daily tasks, not shortcomings another brightness mode will solve.
The low setting deserves attention
Fifty lumens is the lowest listed output with either battery. There is no lower moonlight setting in the documented modes. If your job is checking something beside a sleeping person, make low output a shortlist requirement before comparing maximums.
Light quality is another compromise. ZeroAir's 2024 test reported low color rendering, around CRI 65, and a green-leaning beam. That was a reviewer-supplied measurement using hobbyist equipment on a unit provided by Nitecore Store. It is a reason to compare beam quality if distinguishing colors matters, not a claim that we measured every production unit.
Useful flexibility, with a clear trade
Shortlist the MT1A Pro for a compact carry light when removable power matters more than very low output or flattering color. Choose another approach when you need hands-free light, charging without opening the body, or a genuinely dim first setting. The AA option is valuable because it preserves a way to use the tool—not because it preserves every specification.
