Lladró Mokuren Chandelier
Naoto Fukasawa suspends a magnolia tree in porcelain and light. Dark branches and luminous petals give the chandelier an unexpectedly quiet grandeur.

A chandelier can dominate a room by multiplying sparkle. Mokuren achieves its presence with the outline of a branch.
Dark limbs spread beneath a slender suspension, carrying white porcelain magnolia flowers. Light gathers in the petals. The contrast is simple enough to read from across a room, but the flower forms give it something to offer at closer range. It feels less like an ornament hung from the ceiling than a piece of the garden brought indoors and held in bloom.
Naoto Fukasawa’s design gives Lladró’s porcelain a structural role in the experience: the flowers are where the light becomes visible. That connection makes the natural reference feel purposeful.
A canopy of porcelain
Price for the US option on Lladró’s product page, checked September 10, 2026. Dimensions from the official lighting catalogue, page 193: approximately 55 inches across, with a 31½-inch body. Suspension adds height; confirm the current installation drawing.
The room changes before the switch is touched
A simpler pendant can illuminate a dining table. Mokuren’s premium buys a sculptural canopy that remains legible during the day, when the flowers and black lacquered branches have to carry the composition without assistance from their glow.
The useful comparison is therefore a light fitting plus a significant piece of art. Here they occupy the same place. It could be especially compelling over a restrained table, with enough empty space around the branches for their silhouette to remain clear. A crowded ceiling or a room already full of floral motifs might make the idea less arresting.
Do not confuse the photograph’s atmosphere with a lighting plan. See the porcelain lit in person if possible, and assess the actual room at dinner, during conversation and while the lights are dimmed. The right chandelier still needs to be the right light.
The Catch
The US page currently describes handmade production to order with a 12–14-week lead time. Confirm the schedule before arranging installation. This is a broad, delicate object to receive and hang; ask about assembly, replacement petals and access for cleaning before it reaches the ceiling.
The catalogue specifies integrated LEDs and a 0–10V dimmable driver for the US version. Have the installer confirm the current electrical requirements and compatibility with your controls. Ask how the light source and driver are serviced, rather than treating them as ordinary bulbs you will replace yourself.
For a room that can give it space
Mokuren earns its place through the relationship between material, shape and light. Consider it as a central piece in a carefully planned interior. Decline it if you want easy relocation or uncomplicated maintenance. The appeal is wonderfully specific: sitting beneath a magnolia canopy that never has to be in season.
